Party pitted against united opposition Complete Jammu Bandh mocks at BJP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 24: The BJP has got a shocker with the complete bandh observed in the Jammu. A section of the party has expressed serious concern over the development to the central leadership and has blamed PDP for weakening the party. "It's a deliberate game plan of the Mufti Sayeed to weaken the BJP in the State. He has been trying it for quite long. The Central leadership it seems is so enamoured by the Mufti Sayeed that they are not able to see his gameplan," said a senior BJP leader, wishing not to be named. According to the sources, the state unit of the BJP had a plan to scuttle the bandh call, but even this was dropped on the reported instructions of the higher command. Sources said a strong group of the BJP protestors were even willing to come on the streets and ask people to open their shops and assure them of the all possible security but even they were not allowed to do it. "The party leadership was clueless on the situation. The central leadership didn't give any direction. The worst is that it is because of this confusion that some influential religious leaders sided with the Chamber which worked against us" said a party functionary. The BJP has been struck in a triangular contest by the PDP. The party is not only fighting the Congress but it has now to fight with the NC and also the Panthers, which always had pro-Jammu stance. "The main worry is the NC and how its leadership is using its contacts with the Chamber and transporters to team up against the BJP. It has now tacit support of the Congress. It could complicate the situation which will not be in our interest," said the BJP leader. |
