Jammu, Apr 24: In an unusual move, Kashmir based People’s Democratic Front took a stance today in favour of Jammu and the cause for which all other opposition parties observed bandh , contending that it is fair and just for Jammu to ask for rights. PDF President Hakim Mohammad Yasin, who is otherwise a staunch Kashmir centric politician took a jibe at the PDP-BJP government saying BJP in particular has badly faltered on this vital issue of AIIMS in Jammu and that it was deviating from its agenda for people of Jammu.
Even as PDF did not formally supported the bandh call a day ago, the Kashmir based political party and its President joined the chorus of discrimination with Jammu over denying the Jammu its right of having AIIMS an assurance committed by the Union government. “ We welcome setting up of AIIMS in Kashmir Valley …it will certainly provide a great relief to people who would suffer for want of quality treatment in the state but at the same time I feel people of Jammu have equal right in having such a facility”, Yasin said. Setting up of AIIMS in Jammu would have enabled people of far flung areas in this division to get treatment of standard without rushing to hospitals outside the state, he said adding that it is certainly misfortune for the people in having been denied this health facility at their doorstep. Taking a dig at BJP PDP chief said when Congress during its UPA rule could grant two central universities for the two regions , why BJP led NDA is not able to do justice and provide a sense of equality to two regions this time despite being in power at the centre…! The then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh granted such facilities to both the regions when NC and Congress shared power in the state, he said adding that Congress ensured Jammu Jammu got its share in many things. Blaming BJP for this controversy, PDF president said BJP was badly deviating from its agenda in which it has promised heavens for Jammu but could not ask for what has already been granted . The voices of disappointment and dissent against BJP from political and other quarters is justified, he said adding that PDF too feels it should support the Jammu cause. |
