DyCM inaugurates Building Permission Mela

JAMMU, Apr 24: With an objective to extend transparent and hassle free services to the people, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh today inaugurated, first of its kind, Building Permission Mela organized by the Jammu Municipal corporation here at Kala Kender.
"The purpose of taking this innovative measure is to grants permission for construction of residential as well as commercial buildings under one roof", Dy Chief Minister said after the inauguration.
Minister of State for Education, Culture and Information, Priya Sethi, legislators Satpal Sharma and Rajesh Gupta besides Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Soujanaya Sharma and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Highlighting the endeavors of the present government for ensuring prompt services through e- governance, the Dy CM said that on-line services are being preferred in all departments to ensure speedy disposal of public grievances besides extending an effective public delivery system. He said that these are a few steps towards bringing in transformation at all levels in the state. He said the government is working hard to steer the state towards progress and prosperity.
Dr. Singh said that Government is committed to provide better facilities to the masses and sought people's active participation in this regard. He said introduction of this new concept of giving building permissions through such events will ease the struggle of common man in getting basic services in a time bound manner. He said that this would also generate on spot revenue thus enabling the Corporation to initiate various development activities.
Dr. Singh also mentioned about various projects viz opening of IIT in Jammu, Construction of Multi-Tier Parking, expansion of Tourism activities etc in Jammu city.
Speaking on the ocassion, Priya Sethi appreciated the efforts of Jammu Municipal Corporation for introducing this people friendly concept saying that this will greatly help in ensuring transparency and accountability in the system.
Earlier, Commissioner JMC, Soujanya Sharma briefed about the programme and said that about 236 permissions will be handed over to the people in a single day. He informed said that disposal of these permissions will generate Rs 3 crore revenue for the corporation. He said that main aim of organizing this event is to provide hassle free services to the people besides clearing the pendency and generating revenue for the corporation.
