Court directs Police for action in 'advocate threatened at gunpoint' | | | Jammu, Apr 24: Barely less than 24 hours when Jammu Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu observed a daylong token strike on Wednesday, Court today directed police to take action in regard to complaint of lawyer of Jammu Court who was allegedly threatened at gunpoint by three men in his office chamber at Janipur. The aggrieved lawyer knocked the door of the court and accordingly court directed Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Janipur to investigate the matter. As per complainant, Surinder Gupta, a lawyer by profession three persons one of whom he identified as Rajesh Sharma appeared in his office chamber and threatened him of dire consequences if he did not take back FIR he lodged against him and his wife PriyankaKhajuria. He further alleged that after hot verbal duel, the trio aimed gun at him, adding the incident took place in present of his two clients namely Naresh Gupta of MohallaPaharian and Anil Khajuria of Rehari. Complainant has alleged that his wife also witnessed the incident as she incidentally happens to be there to serve tea. Responding to the petition of aggrieved advocate, the court directed SHO Janipur to investigate the matter and report accordingly. Here it needs to mention that work remained suspended in High Court and subordinate courts on April 22 (Wednesday) as the Bar Association Jammu observed a total strike in protest against the thrashing and kidnapping of an advocate by some unidentified goons two days back at Shakti Nagar. |
