| Model Academy celebrates World Book Day | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 24: MIER today celebrated World Book Day in both its branches where children of all ages came together to appreciate & celebrate reading.
Students of classes 9th& 10th had the opportunity to meet an eminent Dogri author, Prof. (Dr) Champa Sharma, former Head of the Deptt. of Dogri, University of Jammu and recipient of the prestigious Sahitya Academy Award.Dr. Sharma in her address to the students spoke about how at a very young age she started writing and also impressed upon the students the importance of cultivating the habits of reading and writing. She also encouraged the students to hone their writing skills and express their thoughts on paper. Students also had an interactive session with her.
The theme of this year's World Book Day was 'Read the Word'. The day started with a special assembly where students of Einstein house spoke on "Books are our friends". In the classroom students of Primary wing prepared bookmarks, and read their favourite stories. The senior students wrote book reviews on their favourite books.
The students of Residency Road branchtook part in story telling session and wrote book reviews.
The dignitaries who attended the programme were Rupa Gupta Management Representative, Usha Gadoo, officiating Principal, I.J. Kesar, Secretary to the Chairman, Manjari Sehgal and Jasleen Mohial,Academic Managers and Manju Wali, Convener Co- curricular Committee. |
