Jammu, Apr 24: Govt SPMR College Of Commerce celebrated Baisakhi festival week with enthusiasm. Principal J.L.Bhagat was the chief guest on the occasion.A colorful cultural programme was presented by the students at the function. The purpose was to make the students aware about the historical background, significance and relevance of Baisakhi.
Students particpated in various activities including Punjabi dances, Gidda, singing and skit to celebrate the Joy and happiness of harvest season.Principal J.L.Bhagat wished all the students a very happy Baisakhi and emphasised the significance of the festival. While speaking on the occasion principal said that such cultural events help in enriching the young generation with old traditions and cultural values; adding that youth should remain attached with their cultural roots. He further said that Baisakhi is a celebration of new life and new beginning and called for strengthening the bonds between the various sections of the society and nurturing communal harmony. He appreciated the efforts of English and Computer sciences departmnet for organizing such activity.
Head of the various Department,Prof Gopal sharma,Prof Parveen singh,Prof Archana koul and other staff members were present on the occasion. |
