Department of Law, JU launches 'Distinguished Lecture Series' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 24: Department of Law, University of Jammu today launched a 'Distinguished Lecture Series' whereby eminent persons in the field of Law, Judiciary and Civil Services will deliver lectures and hold interactions with the students on various issues of topical interest. Prof Indranath Gupta, Director of the Centre for Postgraduate Legal Studies in Intellectual Property and Technology Law at Jindal Global Law School were the main speakers. An alumni of Calcutta University, University of Aberdeen and University of East Anglia, Prof Gupta has previously taught at the Brunel Law School, London and Department of Law, University of Calcutta and also has several prestigious research projects besides one funded by the European Commission and has number of national and international publications to his credit. In his lecture, Prof Gupta dwelt on the theme of "Mapping The Cyber Space: Complexities And Way Forward". He discussed various issues pertaining to the cyber space like regulation of Internet, ISPs, NSPs, User Generated Contents and jurisdictional issues etc. He showed concern about the data protection issues and emphasized that the users at their end can take certain measures to protect their interest and safeguard themselves from being the victims of cyber crime. Earlier, Professor Arvind Jasrotia, Head of the Department of Law, while formally welcoming and introducing the speaker, apprised the students research scholars and faculty members of the department about various activities contemplated by the Department in the near future. Dr Seema Nargotra, Sr Assistant Professor of the Department presented the vote of thanks in the end. |
