Community center handed over to panchayat | | | Early Times Repor
Rajouri, Apr 24: A Community Centre constructed by the army under Border Area Development Project (BRDP) at Dungi was today handed over to the Panchyat members by the Deputy GOC , 25 Infantry Division. Community Centre was constructed under Boarder Area Development Programme (BADP) after the army felt that the more than 3000 inhabitants of the area ,near Line Of Control (LoC), had no adequate/protected place for their community gathering. Raj Kumar, sarpanch for the area and other elders and prominent inhabitants of the area had contacted the Commanding Officer of the unit operating and manning the LoC in Keri sector and apprised about the necessarily of Community Centre. The matter was taken up with the senior officers at Ace of Spades Division headquarters and accordingly CO of EME regiment was directed to prepare the plan and construction of the Community Centre. "The construction of the Community Centre was done in stipulated time frame and even the prolonged spell of inclement weather conditions especially torrential rains couldn't deter the spirit of Ace of Spades Division to ensure the timely construction of this project" said a senior officer of the Division. The Community Centre was today handed over to the Panchyat members by Brigadier Satinder singh, Deputy GOC, Ace of Spades Division in the presence army and civil dignitaries. More than 3000 population of the area has no common place which could have been utilized during festivals, organizing social functions or conduct of Panchayats. The construction of Community Centre at village Doongi is a step forward towards providing a better quality life to the local populace of Doongi and adjoining areas .The centre has a spacious Hall, Kitchen and toilets with best construction related quality materials. |
