Gujjars, Bakerwals harassed, looted by police: Khatana

Jammu, Apr 24: President J&K Gujjar Bakarwal Desh Youth Body, Ch. Nazakat Khatana in a press release said that the nomadic Gujjar and Bakerwals of J&K State while moving towards hilly terrains are being looted and harassed by executive and traffic wings of the police department.
Ch. Nazakat khatana said that every year when civil secretariat moves to Srinagar, a number of facilities are provided for the Darbar Move, but nobody cares and listens for these nomadic poor Gujjars and Bakerwals during their summer shift.
He appealed Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to give proper attention and make proper arrangement and facilities for these nomads so that these nomads may not suffer more. He also requested the higher officials of Animal Husbandry Department to cooperate and help these nomads by providing medical facilities for the treatment of livestock during their move at different places along the national highway.
