CUK's School of Legal Studies commemorates Iqbal Day | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 24: The School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK), Thursday organized an extension lecture on Juristic thoughts of Allama Iqbal at academic block Nowgam. The function was organised to commemorate the death anniversary of Dr. Iqbal. In his inaugural speech, Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj-udDin highlighted the contribution of Dr. Iqbal towards pursuits of knowledge and wisdom. He said, "Dynamism was essence of Iqbal's philosophy and thought." He said the stagnation of Ummah was a source of worry for Allama Iqbal and through his poetry, he tried to awaken Muslims. Head of the department, Dr Shiekh Showkat also paid tributes to the poet-philosopher. He highlighted the contribution of Iqbal towards jurisprudence and understanding of Islamic thought. He said, "Iqbal apart from being a jurist was a lawyer by training and by profession. Students of law have more than one connection with him in his different capacities of being a jurist, a lawyer, a spokesman of the East and also a person with Kashmiri genes." Renowned expert of Iqbaliyat Dr. Bashir Ahmad Nahvi delivered a special lecture on the topic: 'The Juristic thoughts of Dr Alama Iqbal'. He highlighted different facets of the life and times of Dr. Iqbal and illuminated the gathering about the poetic and philosophical intricacies of the poet of the East. Dr. Nahvi also highlighted the contemporary relevance of Iqbal's poetic themes. Students from various departments also highlighted various aspects of the life and contributions of Allama Iqbal. Besides the students faculty members of various departments also attended the seminar. |
