JU VC chairs Academic Staff College Advisory Committee Meet | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 28 : The Advisory Committee of the UGC-Academic Staff College met here this afternoon under the Chairmanship of Prof. R. D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. The meeting was attended by Prof. S. K. Jain, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, Katra, beside other academicians and functionaries from the university of jammu. Professor Rajni Kant, Director, Academic Staff College, University of Jammu, presented agenda of the meeting. The Advisory Committee which is the highest decision making body of ASC with regard to its academic policy deliberated in detail on the various new academic initiatives that are proposed to be undertaken in the current academic year. Apart from the other routine calendar items, the ASC Advisory Committee took some important decisions with regard to the working of ASC JU. The Committee ratified the ASC decisions to hold a refresher course in languages on self-financing scheme. The committee also approved and ratified the decision of organising a eight week long training programme for the statutory officers of the University of Jammu. The Advisory committee also agreed to request the UGC for allocation of two more special refresher courses for the current year in subjects of life sciences and education. The Vice-Chancellor also directed the ASC to organize a special programme for B.Ed and M. Ed teachers.The Committee also approved the proposal for conduct of courses on self financing scheme by ASC JU after seeking approval of UGC. The members also agreed upon to approve the ASC Directors request to publish the ASC Newsletter. Earlier Prof. Rajni Kant, Director, Academic Staff College, made a detailed power point presentation with regard to the various courses and programs undertaken and the expenditure incurred therein by the Academic Staff College in 2014-15 and the new courses to be organised in 2015-16. He also emphasized on the proposals for making the existing ASC more vibrant by getting some Theme-based courses for the university of jammu. Special focus was projected on strengthening infrastructure of the UGC-ASC and its renovation. Prof. R. D. Sharma laid emphasis on obtaining regular feed back from the participants so as to improve the working of ASC and desired the ASC to follow the newly approved UGC Guidelines in letter and spirit. |
