Raising superfluous issues not in people's interest: Akhtar | | | Early Times Report
Bandipora, May 2: Senior PDP leader and Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar today called for collective and concerted effort to bring political stability and economic prosperity to Jammu and Kashmir. He said people from various thoughts should exhibit great sense of responsibility to help Kashmir come out of the difficult situation it has been pushed into because of devastating floods and rampant misgovernance. "The PDP-BJP coalition government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is working through a multipronged strategy, as enumerated in its Agenda for Alliance, to institutionalize political stability, economic prosperity and administrative responsibleness," Akhtar said while addressing a PDP workers convention here. He said peace in Kashmir can't be restored in isolation and a beginning has been made at the highest level in the country to involve Pakistan in purposeful parleys, which has been positively responded by Government of Pakistan. "At the internal level also a beginning has to be made to involve all the stakeholders in meaningful talks to end the decades old political impasse in the State," he said and added that Kashmir is struggling to cope up with the trail of destruction and economic distress left behind by the devastating floods on September 2014 and the State Government is working at various levels to reconstruct the damaged infrastructure and revive the affected livelihood. He said hectic efforts are being made by the Government to revive tourism in Kashmir which is one of the key contributors to the State economy. |
