Mysterious black flags in Baramulla trigger panic | | | S. Tahir-Ul Haq Early Times Report baramulla, May 2: Mysterious black flags that appeared near the bridge in Baramulla town of north Kashmir causing panic. The flags evoked reactions ranging from miscarry to critical-some saying the flags were of ISIS while others believed they were LeT flags. Sources told Early Times that, "on Saturday afternoon a black flag was seen displayed near Old Town Bridge in Baramulla which caused panic among general public. There have been a number of such occasions when a section of Kashmiris have sought 'help' of foreign Muslim countries or organizations to 'fight the occupation' of Kashmir by India, so it is not a new thing to display such flags in Kashmir, sources opined. A local eyewitness wishing not to be named said that, "the black flag was displayed near bridge, inscriptions of Kalima, the two swords are used there, to some extent it caused panic among common masses, while as some men used the flags to cover their faces while others guarded the lanes and by lanes, intensifying tensions in the region and same was observed here in Baramulla town. A senior police official on anonymity conditions told early Times that, we are confirming from our sources that what kind of flag was displayed in Baramulla town on Saturday afternoon. The displaying of Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS), LeT or any anti national flag in Baramulla town is a matter of serious concern and the security establishment needed to take note of it at the highest level, said official. When asked about the ISIS flag attraction among the youth, he said that ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) had the ability to attract a large number of volunteers and it was a cause of worry. Need of the hour is to put concerted efforts to secure the right to prosperity of the youth in the valley and high level attention was necessary to keep them away from the path of terror, official added and said the emergence of ISIS flag is a concern and deserves the highest attention of the security agencies to prevent the youth of Kashmir from getting lured into (ISIS), official added. However the warning came a day after State government has assured action after Pakistani flags were once again waved at Geelanis rally in Tral Town of South Kashmir on Friday. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, north Kashmir Range, Gareeb Das admitted that black flag was displayed near the bridge, but at the same time he assured that, there is no confirmation of ISIS or LeT flags were displayed in Baramulla town. |
