Denial of permission to renovation of DAV School snowballs into controversy | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 3: Denial of permission by the State Government to renovation of DAV School has snowballed into a big controversy with the management of Arya Samaj up in arms against the Education Department and Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC). According to sources the SMC Commissioner has totally rejected to grant permission to the management of DAV School for renovation of the compound wall of the Institute which was damaged due to incessant rains and flash floods in September last year. This has happened despite the written instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh who holds the portfolio of Urban Development also. Dr Singh who was given a representation by the management of the institute recently had passed orders to the SMC to grant permission to the School mangment for renovation of the building and compound wall. However the SMC Commissioner has turned down the same said Mr Ganjoo president of the DAV Institute. He said the Commissioner SMC has turned down the request saying that no permission can be granted for renovation of the building and compound wall. Likewise the Education Department ahs not also granted the permission to the management of the School for expansion of Board of Directorate to make it Board based for better functioning and management of the Institute. The file is pending with Education Department for last several months and it is sleeping over the issue, alleged Mr Ganjoo. He said it is unfortunate on the one hand the Government is claiming that return of Pandits is top on its agenda and it is fully committed to the same and on the other it is creating problems even in functioning of minority institutions in Valley on one pretext or the other. He said if the same attitude of the authorities persists how can the displaced Pandits expect justice through the hands of the hostile administration on their return. This apprehension is growing in the community and they have apprised the same to higher ups in both State and Central governments. Ganjoo said if such policy of the Government continues the management of DAV School is constrained to lockout this prestigious institute which was an institute of excellence in the State and has produced talented people who excelled in various fields in their life. Ganjoo said that the attitude of the authorities towards the institute is unfortunate and discouraging and it seems that under a hatched conspiracy some vested interests are trying that the institute should not function in Valley. |
