Ex-Dy CM skips function of his political mentor Where is Tara Chand these days? | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 3: Newly appointed president of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) G A Mir has so far addressed 36 conventions all over the State after his appointment as PCC chief on March 3 this year. But Congress stalwart and former Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand has not appeared in any of the convention. Earlier it was believed that Tara Chand belongs to the faction of former Union Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad so he has been deliberately skipping Mir's function to express his loyalty towards Azad. But today Ghulam Nabi Azad came all the way from Union Capital only to address one day convention of District Congress Committee Urban and Rural to give an impression that he is with Mir but Tara Chand skipped today's function also. Every Congress leader and worker present in today's meeting was asking about disappearance of Tara Chand because Ghulam Nabi Azad is his political mentor. Credible sources in the Congress said that Tara Chand has lacked guts to face party workers after losing elections because during his tenure as Deputy Chief Minister he has confined himself with contractors and other persons of dubious character. Now after losing power, contractors and other agents have abandoned Tara Chand but he is finding it difficult to face party workers and party leaders. Mir today launched indirect attack on Tara Chand by stating that party has given many things to people but they ignored party workers when in power. He said some persons had attained the position of next to the Chief Minister but they gave importance to contractors, brokers, touts and agents by ignoring party workers. |
