Srinagar, May 3: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee vice president and MLC G N Monga today urged the government to immediately make the alternate arrangements of accommodation for the residents of Laridora, Sheeri Baramulla as the area has been declared unsafe to reside by the authorities due to soil erosion. In a statement to media here Monga said people of the area complained to him that their village has been declared as danger zone. "During recent rainfall, 12 houses got collapsed and inhabitants had a miraculous escape. The government itself has declared the area danger zone and no new construction can be done in the village." "But only declaring the area unsafe isn't enough. It is the duty of the government to shift the residents of the area to some safer place and rehabilitate them. If the government doesn't take any concrete steps the lives of hundreds of people of the area is at stake," he warned. The Congress leader urged the government to take the issue as priority as soil erosion in the area is a constantly happening. |
