PWD, PMGSY casual labours' demand regularization; strike enters fourth day | | | Ealry Times Report JAMMU, May 18: The pen down strike of casual labourers of PWD (R&B) and PMGSY under the banner of PWD (R&B) & PMGSY Department Casual Labourers Union today entered fourth day. Holding massive protest demonstration, a large number of casual labourers led by president Ajay Kumar and Puneet Gandotra lamented the previous state government by making false promises for regularization of casual labourers working in PWD (R&B) and PMGSY Department. Kumar said that number of committees and sub-committees were framed by the state government to resolve their pending issues and demands but to no avail and the files of regularization are gathering dust in the Secretariat adding that such moves of previous government were merely eyewash. He said the new coalition government formed a high power committee only for the budget, however, there are no provisions for the welfare of the casual labours and neither any steps have been taken in order to meet their interests nor any funds were sanctioned for the regularization and wages of the Casual Labourers. Moreover, there is no increase in the daily wage given to the casual labours and neither there is any promise to do the same, he added. Kumar appealed to all casual labours of PWD(R&B) and PMGSY Department to come forward and join the struggle for better quality of lives for their families and children. |
