Jammu, May 18: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST Jammu) held the 7th Extension Education Council meeting at its main campus Chatha to take stock of the extension activities conducted by the university. According to press release, the extension council approved the extension activities of the university for 2015-16, for capacity building of farmers and officers of the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Floriculture, Forestry and other allied departments. Extension Education Council is the highest decision making body for formulating extension policy for the Jammu region. Prof. Pradeep K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST of Jammu chaired the meeting. The Vice Chancellor discussed the outcomes of the training programmes organized by the university and suggested changes in the mechanism for formulating future human resource development programmes. Expert from Veterinary Sciences Dr. R. S. Sahota, formerly Director Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana attended the meeting and suggested scaling up of dairy and poultry technologies developed by the university. He also laid emphasis on finding out the impact of capacity building programmes organized by the university for the officers of animal and sheep husbandry departments. |
