Arun Singh Early Times Report Jammu, May 23: Some gun manufacturers in Gangyal are violating directives from the state government about security of the arms manufactured within their premises with impunity. Sources told Early Times that the state Home Department, considering the security issue due to terrorism in J&K, had issued certain directives to all gun manufacturers nearly two years ago. These directives included putting in place necessary security measures in their premises like erection of high boundary wall and a gate at each factory in order to make the premises protected. “But some factories at Gangyal, in utter disregard of the directives, had erected two gates, one in the front and one in the backside of the factories, posing serious threat of theft of the arms and ammunition manufactured in the premises,” the sources said. They said that some gun manufactures like Khalsa Gun Works, Kalsi Gun Works, Uttam Gun Works etc had erected two gates in their factory premises in sheer violation of the directives.’ “Why these gun factories’ owners have put two gates in their premises despite strict directives of Home Department is serious issue which should be ascertained minutely,” the sources said. Astoundingly, the gates at the rear of these gun factories open in lonely place where hardly any human movement is seen, and in such cases anyone can enter into the factory premises or can leave, said the sources, adding that despite all such facts, concerned authority has not taken any action against such violations. |
