Reasi May 23: Continuing its drive against drug paddlers and bootleggers in holy town Katra of District Reasi, Police arrested two narcotics peddlers alonwgith with over one kgs of 'Poppy straw' popularly known as 'Bhukki' during a naka checking on late Friday evening.
The accused have been identified namely as Rahul Sharma s/o Ravinder Kumar of W-4 Main Bazar Katra of Reasi district and Sher Mohd S/O Abdul caste Jogi R/O Sandrote Dansal of Jammu districts, police spokesperson said.
Police said,"A police team headed by Dr Ashok Sharma, SDPO Katra under the direct supervision of Sujit Kumar, SSP Reasi, and Sumir Kotwal, Addl SP Katra intercepted two above mentioned accused who were on way to Katra from Jammu in the vehicle (Bolero) bearing regd no: JK20-3030 on Friday evening."
"During through checking of vehicle and personal frisking of accused at Asia Chowk Katra the police recovered 800 gms Poppy Straw (Bhuki) from the possession of accused Rahul Sharma and 700 gms Poppy Straw (Bhuki) from the possession of accused Sher Mohd making in all 1Kg 500 gms Poppy Straw (Bhuki), police said, adding, "the accused were arrested on the spot while contraband and vehicle too were seized. In this connection, a case FIR No. 78/2015 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at P/S Katra and investigation of the case is in progress. |
