Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 23: Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Youth Federation (JKDYF) held a protest demonstration against the New Recruitment Policy (NRP) in Srinagar today.
According to press release, in protest demonstration, hundreds of JKDYF activists carrying banners and placards marched from Partap Park to Clock Tower Srinagar and chanting slogans like remove the new recruitment policy, remove ban on recruitment on Central Govt Departments, stop corruption, enhance unemployment allowance.
Abdul Rashid, General Secretary JKDYF while addressing the protesting youth said that new recruitment policy is a blow on the job aspiring educated youth, who are already disillusioned by the anti-youth policies of the State Government. Such a policy is unjustified and bound to create insecurity among educated unemployed youth, he added.
Stating that the new recruitment policy is no answer to the alarming unemployment problem he said that Government initiatives for tackling unemployment problem from time to time have failed due to inherent loopholes and called for a comprehensive employment policy where under identification of vacancies and their subsequent referral to the recruiting agencies for selection is ensured on fast track basis.
"The rate of growth of employment has declined from 2.7% in 2000-05 to an alarming low of 0.8% in 2009-10 nationally," the federation demanded removal of ban on recruitment in Central government departments, enhancement in unemployment allowance, modernization of district level employment offices and enhancement of financial support for self-employment schemes, self-help groups and small enterprises.
Criticizing the failure of the government in constitution of Public Service Commission (PSC), the Federation pointed that the government's lack of interest in making this institution functional is jeopardizing the future of thousands of youth in the state. Government must make all the recruiting agencies functional and refer posts lying vacant in government departments so that the educated unemployed youth are adjusted without any delay, it stressed.
The federation urged upon the government to withdraw its new recruitment policy forthwith.
