Panic gripped in Gadood Bagh area of Habba Kadal when militants lobbed grenade towards two telecom towers installed in the house of one Abdul Ahad Haji which according to locals of the area missed the target and exploded on road and left one person injured and also caused damage to a private car parked nearby. Police personals who reached on the spot immediately after attack said that 'it is not yet confirmed who tried to attack towers and they are analyzing the nature of attack.' This is the first such incident in Srinagar city after a series of attacks in north Kashmir's Sopore and Pattan areas in Baramullah District and in frontier Handwara and Kupwara districts which left two persons dead. One newly surfaced militant outfit Lashker-i-Islam militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attacks in north Kashmir and threatened the mobile operators to wind up services across the Valley. Amid fear and chaos among common masses following ban on Mobile phone services in Kashmir, Separatist leaders like Syed Ali Geelani and Yaseen Malik are repeatedly asking to unmask the attackers and restore mobile services in Kashmir as soon as possible. According to details, in many parts of Kashmir where so far no Attack was carried out, cellular operators have themselves stopped providing services to people and concerned authorities are yet to take any actions against service providers. Pertinently amid tall claims of Government, Lashkar-i-Islam, a lesser known militant outfit that emerged in Kashmir valley few days back firstly warned service operators in North Kashmir to wind up services and initially carried out three major attacks on operators which took life two people as well, later threatened land owners in South Kashmir and forced them to stop providing mobile services to people, finally today succeeded to carry out an attack in Srinagar during broad day light to create panic.
