| Health Shocker: Only 25 Regularized doctors against 3 lakh people in Rajouri | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, June 1: Health Department Rajouri , which has been providing medical help to more than 6 lakh people of the district is itself on ventilator and needs urgent attention from concerned minister Lal Singh. Believe it or not but the fact is that only about 25 doctors (regular) have been providing treatment to about 3 lakh people in Sunderbani, Nowshera and Manjakot -Health blocks in Rajouri district and irony of this is that the significant Sub District Hospital (SDH) Sunderbani situated in accident prone area has only 9 doctors against sanctioned 29 posts including 16 posts of consultant doctors while many has opted transfers at their own wishes to capital.
According to information collected from the health department out of 16 sanctioned post of consultant doctors 11 are lying vacant while of out of 12 sanctioned posts of Medical Officers (MOs) 8 posts are lying vacant and no one has been posted against only sanctioned post of physiotherapist.
Out of about 78 posts of consultant doctors/ Medical officers (regular) 59 posts are lying vacant in these three health blocks and the people are being left on the mercy of God or on the mercy of doctors appointed under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and ISM doctors.
"Had the doctors (MBBS) under NRHM and ISM doctors not appointed at health centres , it would have become very difficult to run these health centres smoothly.
Despite arability of NRHM doctors at some health centres the entire Nowshera Health block facing many difficulties and people are forced either to go for private clinics or to rush to government hospitals at Jammu.
Out of 6 sanctioned posts of consultants at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Nowshera, the five still are lying vacant. Only Anesthetist is available while out of sanctioned 7 posts of MOs only 3 were filled and 4 are lying vacant.
In Nowshera Health Block out of 29 sanctioned posts of consultant doctors/ MOs 24 posts are lying vacant and out of six sanctioned posts of doctors under NRHM 5 posts are lying vacant and even for simple X-Ray or Ultra Sound test people either visiting private clinics or go to Jammu for treatment.
In Manjakot Health block the situation is more worst as out of 17 sanctioned posts of Medical Officers ( 12 from regular side and 5 under NRHM) 13 are lying vacant.
"Most of the health centres in this block are being run by two MBBS doctors appointed under NRHM & by Indian System of Medicines (ISM) doctors," said Dr A Ahmed, Block Medical Officer (BMO), Manjakot.
Meanwhile giving overall picture of district, Dr Anies, Officiating Chief Medical Officer (CMO) when contacted said that the matter was raised with the Director Health Services (DHS) during his recent visit to Rajouri district.
"DHS has informed that soon fresh batch of doctors will join their duties and the vacant posts in the Rajouri districts would soon be filled" said Dr Anies. |
