NSS unit of R M College organizes intra class competition

JAMMU, June 1 : The National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of R M College of Education organized one day intra class competition under the guidance of Ravinder Kour (Coordinator of the Programme) on 1st June 2015 at college campus. The programme was organized in the main hall of the college where programme coordinator welcomed all the dignitaries and NSS Volunteers. Trustee of the college Rita Mengi along with Principal P K Dhar and other staff members started the programme with lighting of traditional lamp. Theme of the programme was Leadership and Personality Development with respect to teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Around 50 NSS Volunteers out of hundred participated in the competition, in which each student was given a questionnaire containing forty question related to life and teaching of Swami Vivekananda. The questionnaire was prepared by "Vivekananda Seva Samitee (Uttrakhand)". Students were given 50 minutes time to complete the paper. Second competition was held to check and develop the Listening capacity of the volunteers. In this competition there were 4 teams comprising 5 students in each team. The speech given by Vivekananda at Chicago was made audible to all the teams for 10 minutes and the leader from each team should have to speak for 5 minutes on the basis of listening. All the volunteers in the competition were very much enthusiastic and made a programme very good academic exercise. Rita Mengi and P.K. Dhar adjudged the competition where Priyanka Dixit stood 1st , Asim Kumar Naik 2nd while Mohd Mushtaq and Sujata Kerketta at 3rd position, were the winners. Certificates and prizes were also distributed among winners and participants. Before organizing the results, the Judges threw light on the life of Vivekananda and stressed upon to inculcate values and humanism among the younger generation. Lastly, Priyanka Sharma (Senior Lecturer) presented vote of thanks.
