Sikh organizations demand Govt. to declare holiday on day of election of DGPC | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 5: Sikh organizations called upon the state government to declare a Holiday for Sikh Government Employees on the eve of District Gurudwara Prabandak Committee (DGPC) elections being conducted on July 8. Addressing a joint press conference of various Sikh organizations S.Dayal Singh Wazir, president Shiromani Alali Dal said that the government has been compelled to hold Gurudwara Elections in the state by virtue of an High Court order after a gap of 13 long years as these elections were being delayed at the behest of those who are occupying various positions for their own political and pecuniary benefits which are well known to the public. He further said that all those elements are back in the fray in order to mislead the common public again but the wisdom of voters will throw out all such elements during the Gurudwara elections and get the Gurudwaras free from this mafia who has indulged not only in loot and destruction of Gurudwara Properties but because of their political vested interests have also divided the community which is against the Panthak traditions. He appealed to the people to throw out these tainted elements and bring in new faces who are proponents of Sikh tenants and also sympathizers of Panthak Unity. Paramjeet Singh, president AISSF said that the time has come for the Panth to avenge the misdeeds and wrong doings of the Gurudwara Mafia which has been in control of the Gurudwars Affairs continuously for the last thirteen years and have done nothing for the community except creating factionalism among the Sikh Panth by only criticizing the achievements of His Holiness Shriman Mahant Manjeet Singh of Dera Shri Nangali Sahib, Poonch. |
