BJP fails another litmus test | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 6: BJP leaders Monday, once again had to undergo a litmus test on party's basic ideology when they had to pay obeisance to Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee on his 114 th birth anniversary when they arrived here at the new building of the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar riding official cars fitted with both the state flag and the national flag. After unveiling the statue of founder president of Jana Sangh, whose martyrdom in the state was attributed to his fight against the duality of the constitution, flag and president, the BJP leaders had to hide their embarrassment in full public while paying tributes to him, but enjoying the duality of the state in hunger for political power. The ministerial cars were seen parked outside the main pandal where party leaders addressed party workers. The slogan on the portrait of Dr Mookherjee mocked at the senior party ministers as they bowed their heads in reverence. Slogan 'yaan main sanvidhan badloonga yaan balidaan doonga' caught attention of the audience as one by one BJP leaders paid glowing tributes in front of media persons. Adopting tough posture to boost the morale of the party workers several senior party leaders and cabinet ministers urged the party workers to follow the ideals of party stalwarts and warned them against compromising with the core agenda of the party. The party ministers also supported the idea of installing statues of party leaders including Jana Sangh founder Dr Shyama Prasad Mookhjerjee at city junctions. |
