BJP MLA making irresponsible statements to remain in news | Myanmar-type surgical operations in PoJK | | Early Times Report jammu, July 6: BJP MLA from Sunderbani Ravinder Raina had developed the habit of making irresponsible statements to remain in the news. He makes a statement and then disappears for days together. He has turned so hungry for cheap publicity that he creates an awkward situation for the government at the Centre by making statements that alert the Pakistani civil and military establishments and hamper the task of our security forces involved in anti-insurgency operations in the state and defending borders and LoC. He enters into a domain no party should. Security-related issues are not discussed in public, but Raina does so in a most brazen manner ignoring certain ground realities. In fact, he doesn't know what he says. The other day, Raina urged the authorities in delhi to allow the Indian Army to launch surgical operations in PoJK to destroy the terror-training camps. "The Islamic State has already entered the training camps in PoK as they have made a major base in neighbouring Afghanistan and its members are training the militants in the PoK camps, he claimed. As you know that a few days ago, the Indian Army entered Myanmar and destroyed the terror infrastructure there. Now the army must replicate the same and enter PoK and destroy the terrorist infrastructure in that region," he said. "The need of the hour is to adopt a political will and the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre is capable to take such decisions. The need of the hour is to show will power, political will power, the government in Delhi has that will power and I feel that they must make a proactive policy to take such action," he said. His statement didn't go well with the BJP. Dismissing his suggestion, senior BJP leader Subramanian Swami said security-related issues are not discussed in public and TV channels. These are sensitive issues which are needed to be handled with great care and planning, he said, adding that the situation in Myanmar was different than what it is in Pakistan. Myanmar was a friendly country and it helped the Indian forces to launch surgical strikes in Manipur last month to avenge the anti-India strike that had left many soldiers, including six from Jammu, dead, but Pakistan is a hostile nation. The Pakistani Army and its Inter-service Intelligence are actively involved in anti-India operations and PoJK is one of their launching pads. "Hand over Jammu & Kashmir to the Army. Give it a freehand. Leave everything to the care of the Army," he said. Subramanian Swami, in fact, snubbed Raina and advised him and others of his ilk in the party to refrain from making irresponsible statements. It will be seen if Raina realizes his mistake. Even otherwise, he has no moral and political right to comment on the security-related issues because the agenda of alliance virtually recognizes Pakistan as one of the "stakeholders" in Jammu & Kashmir. It appears he has not seen it or he has not understood what it said about the political status of Jammu & Kashmir. |
