Would Sharma's name figure in 2nd list of corrupt officials? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 6: The recent action of the government to terminate the 63 corrupt officials is a good beginning but there are many officials like the incumbent ERA Director Vinod Sharma who are calling the shots despite cases being registered against them. The Director ERA Vinod Sharma has been hogging the headlines since the day he was the Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation. His alleged involvement in a land grab case is an "open secret" but the PDP-BJP government which after taking over the reins of the state announced that corrupt elements would be dealt with sternly seems in no mood to catch the big fishes. There are speculations that government has asked the investigating agencies and the State Vigilance Organization (SVO) to prepare another list of the corrupt officials so that they can be shown the exit door. If sources are to be believed the big wigs like Sharma are using their influence to ensure that their name doesn't figure in any such list. However, JDA serving an eviction notice to Sharma's wife and the SVO expediting the probe can put Sharma in a tight spot and he may even have to refund the money which he has been collecting as rent for mobile towers erected on the government land. |
