Four bovine smugglers, one bootlegger held | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Jul 6: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and bootleggers, Rajouri police under the guidance of SSP Rajouri, Dr Haseeb Mughal, the police today arrested four bovine smugglers for transporting animal illegally for sale in Kashmir Valley and also seized 24 canes (750 ml each) of King Fisher Bear from the possession of bootlegger. According to police, Dharamshal police led by SHO, Sub Inspector Mohd Bashir under the supervision of Rakesh Kumar ASP laid Naka at Siot Morh on Jammu-Poonch highway intercepted vehicles TATA Mobile bearing registration Nos JK13-6029 and JK12-4409 and rescued 04 bovine animals which were on its way from Sunderbani-Rajouri to Srinagar via Mughal road carrying the animals illegally/without any permission. Police besides seizing the vehicles also have arrested bovine smugglers identified namely as Mohd Tariq s/o Mohd Sadiq, Wazarat Hussain s/o Mohd Sharief r/o Khanetar of Poonch and Mohd Farooq s/o Mohd Bashir r/o Dhalyote and Maqsood Hussain s/o Mir Hussain r/o Chand of Rajouri district. Police have also seized the vehicles and have booked the smugglers in case FIR Nos. 54/55/-2015 under sections 188 RPC, 3 PCA. Yet in another incident, Thanamandi SHO Narinder Singh following a specific input apprehended one Abdul Rehman of village Manyal gali and recovered 24 canes of bear from his possession. The accused has been booked under FIR No99/15 u/s 4/8(a) Excise Act. Rajouri Police have intensified its drive against bovine smugglers under the guidance of Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP Rajouri and have registered 48 cases of bovine smuggling against 127 persons and have rescued 308 bovine animals so far since January 2015. |
