PDP `wages war' to remove imprints of Sheikh Family | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 21: The PDP government has decided to take on the Abdullah family head on. The party, which holds this family as the root cause of all the problems plaguing the state, has decided to take off the imprints of this family from all the important institutions of the State. The replacement of the Dr Farooq Abdullah from the post of the J&K Cricket Association, a post he was holding for the last three decades is part of this plan. According to the sources, the government intends to pan out this plan and much more things on which the Abdullah family had a control and had made it their fiefdom will be taken off from them The Mufti Sayeed government in its first stint had taken the decision to take control of the Aquaf trust from the Abdullahs'. This was bitterly opposed by Dr Farooq and who had even then entered into a verbal dual with Nayeem Akhtar, threatening him of dire consequences, but nothing of the sort happened. "It was the first action by the PDP to remove the imprint of the Abdullahs' from the state polity now the same is being done now as the cricket is an important institution," said a senior official. The PDP especially Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had set him as a second top most leader of not just Kashmir but also of the State after Sheikh Abdlluah, which had his inning. The PDP government by removing the imprints of the Abdullahs' intends to put Mufti Sayeed as the only statesman like politician across the State who worked for the masses and not the family and was widely accepted across the state. "By removing imprints of the Abdullah's the PDP government wants the people to know the leader by his work and not just institutions he controls and that way Mufti stands apart and this is an attempt to further it," said the official. |
