For RSS-BJP, Nirmal, Bali men of no consequence | Promise on AIIMS broken | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 21: It's now crystal clear: BJP leader and Deputy chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat are irrelevant for the BJP and its mentor RSS. For them, they are men of no consequence. It hardly matters for the RSS-BJP combine even if Nirmal Singh and Bali Bhagat are humiliated and attacked by the people for their failure to deliver the commitment (on AIIMS). They have no say whatsoever either in the RSS that controls, guides and directs the BJP or in the party itself, which has no clear stand on any issue and which is known for diluting its ideology at regular intervals for grabbing power and retaining control over it. It has been working for the dilution of its ideology ever since it came into being with veteran like Atal Bihari Vajpayee saying that the BJP was a new party and different from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. That Nirmal Singh and Bali Bhagat, who, according to insiders, "hate each other and have not been on talking terms, particularly since February last", can be seen from the fact that the RSS and the BJP high command didn't do anything between June 18 and July 20 to persuade Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make an announcement that the promised AIIMS will be established in Jammu and that it was a must to make an announcement to this effect latest by July 20 so that Nirmal Singh and Bali Bhagat were saved from embarrassment. ("Bali Bhagat was," according to sources, "himself a candidate for the post of Deputy Chief Minister". It was on June 18 that Nirmal Singh and Bali Bhagat gave a written commitment to the AIIMS Coordination Committee that an appropriate order on AIIMS will be obtained from the Government of India latest by July 20. As a result the ACC withdrew the bandh call and suspended hunger strike. There should be no doubt that there is none on the Jammu & Kashmir BJP who has the guts to commit anything without the consent and concurrence of the RSS and the BJP high command. It is obvious that both the BJP ministers took the RSS and the party high command into confidence or sought their permission to talk to the ACC leadership and commit AIIMS for Jammu. By not doing anything to get the commitment honoured, the "RSS and the BJP has only," according to insiders, "blackened the faces of Nirmal Singh and Bali Bhagat beyond recognition and left them in the lurch". The non-fulfillment of the solemn promise has serious implications not only for Nirmal Singh and Bali Bhagat, but also for the party as a whole and the RSS. One of them is that these outfits would become further unpopular in the region and help the Congress, the Panthers Party, and even the National Conference regain political space they lost to the BJP in 2014. |
