JKEDI kickstarts EDP at Mahore | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Reasi, July 27: Carrying on its objective of making the youth self reliable, JKEDI Reasi started a fresh batch of 62 candidates under Himayat at Govt Higher Sec School Mahore. The candidates will be trained under the Himayat Self Employment Component, a part of the Skills Empowerment and Employability (SEE) scheme of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and Ministry of Rural Development GOI. It promotes enterprise led livelihoods by imparting training, sector exposure, financial linkages, market linkages, handholding and mentoring support to aspiring micro entrepreneurs and is implemented by Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development institute in J&K. Addressing the gathering, Communication Officer JKEDI Dr. Majid Manzoor Khan emphasized on importance of young entrepreneurs. "The mindset is changing, youngsters are shunning conventional jobs and pursuing out of the box ideas with the help of JKEDI," he added. He added that Joblessness in Jammu and Kashmir has been exacerbated by a complex conflict and protracted instability. As such the state has been looking for opportunities in employment. The weak, tenuous local economy and its fluctuations have left many with few or no options for economic management. Jammu & Kashmir has more than 6 lakh people registered with district employment and counselling centres. There is a great need for special schemes like Himayat catering to youth from low-income families. It gives priority to those with humble socio-economic background , he added. |
