Bovine smuggling bid foiled, one held | | | Early Times Report
Banihal, July 27: Continuing to its drive against Bovine Smuggling, District Police Ramban today again foiled a bid of bovine smuggling in the upper reaches in Banihal of Ramban district with the arrest of one person and rescuing ten animals which were being smuggled to Kashmir valley. Police said, "On a specific information, a Police Party led by SI Shakeel Manhas, I/C PP Khari under the supervision of Inspector Tariq Hussain Naik, SHO PS Banihal, SDPO Banihal Mohd Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar, KPS, laid a special Naka in the upper reaches of Mahu and stopped a person walking with 10 animals on foot from Gool to Kashmir valley via upper reaches of Mahu Mangat track without permission. Pertinent to mention that following the tightened noose of the police against bovine smuggler they have changed their strategies and under new modus operandi they instead of ferrying animals on vehicles are trying to carry the animals on foot through upper reaches of mountainous tracks. And naka was laid on one of such traditional route track and accordingly, one Abdul Rehman S/o Gulam Qadir R/o Ghagra Tehsil Gool District Ramban was arrested while taking animals to valley. A case FIR under relevant sections has been registered at PS Banihal and investigation has been started. |
