Police seize 405 bags of Govt cement | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Aug 23: Police seized 405 bags of Ambuja cement being supplied by the government to Rural Development Department (RDD) for developmental works but allegedly were being dumped at three place for black marketing by the store keeper and Gram Rojgar Sewak(GRS). Police spokesman said that Station House Officer (SHO) ,Thanamandi police station on Saturday received an information from the people that some employees of the RDD department have dumped cement bags at three places instead keeping the cent in the government store. He said that the cement was supplied for the developmental works being carried out under MGNREGA and instead issuing the cement to contractors officials concerned dumped it for black marketing. On getting the information a police party headed by SHO under the supervision of SDPO, Thanamandi conducted raids and seized the cement bags from three different places. Police later contacted Farooq Ahmed, store keeper and Yasseer Mustaffa, Gram Rojgar Sewak and sought record of the cement supply. As both the officials failed to produce any relevant document in their favor, they were arrested by the police and were booked in case FIR No 125/15 under sections 409/109/406 RPC. "Further investigation is being conducted by Thanamndi police to unearth the network of black marketing of government cement and the people involved in this network. More arrests in future can't be ruled out" said Dr Haseeb Mughal SSP. |
