JAMMU, Aug 28: The combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments and Government College for Women (GCW) clinched the men and women's titles respectively in the inter-college table tennis tournament, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, on the campus, here today.
In the men's final, PG outplayed Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur 3-1. The Results: Ankit Sharma lost to Rohit Pal Sharma 5-11, 13-15, 11-9, 12-10, 08-11; Abhinav Sharma beat Aakashdeep 11-01, 11-09, 14-12; Abhishek Arora beat Mannat Arora 11-05, 11-07, 09-11, 11-09.
Meanwhile, in women's title clash, GCW Parade defeated GCW Udhampur 3-1. The Results: Sonalika Sharma lost to Parul Sharma 11-09, 08-11, 07-11; Shruti R Sharma beat Purvi Sharma 11-08, 12-10; Shenaz Anjum beat Pinky Devi 12-10, 11-10; Sonalika Sharma beat Purvi Sharma 07-11, 11- 07, 11-07.
Earlier, in the semifinals, GCW Udhampur beat GCW Gandhi Nagar 3-0 and GCW Parade trounced SPMR College of Commerce 3-1 to qualify for the final.
Detailed Results: Semifinals: GCW Udhampur beat GCW Gandhi Nagar 3-0: Purvi Sharma bt Neha Sharma 11- 07, 11- 09; Parul Sharma bt Diksha Sharma 11-5, 11- 03; Pinky Kumari bt Palak Sharma 11-03 and 11-06. GCW Parade beat Commerce College 3-1: Sonalika Sharma bt Simran 11-05, 11- 07; Shreuti R Sharma lost to Rachita 09-11, 09-11; Shenaz Anjum bt Ananya 11-01, 11-04; Sonalika Sharma bt Rachita 09-11, 11-04. In the end title, trophies were given away by Registrar of JU, Prof Keshav Sharma, who was chief guest. He was accompanied by Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof. Dhian Singh Bhau. Among others president were Suman Lata, Vijay Gupta, Sudesh Bhagat, Romesh Sharma, Vikas Karlopia and Raj Kumar Bakshi. |
