'Rahul Gandhi should set his own house in order' | | | Peerzada Ummer Early Times Report srinagar, Aug 28: While taking repeated jibes at the PDP-BJP coalition Government in J&K, it seems Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has forgotten that there are serious graft charges against many Congress ministers pending in the State Accountability Commission (SAC) here. Rahul while terming the present regime in J&K "opportunistic" has forgotten that his own house is not in order and that he should think twice before training guns at the opposition. "The UPA Government had brought J&K back on the track. But the present ruling alliance here is an opportunistic coalition that does not want to help the people or bring back peace," Rahul said in Pampore on Thursday. Ironically, he is forgetting how cases of ministers, including many from his party in the previous National Conference-Congress Government, are gathering dust in the SAC. There are cases against former Congress ministers Taj Mohi-ud-Din and Abdul Majeed Wani. The case of Taj pertains to his tenure as CAPD Minister. The record of the case summoned by the High Court while the case of Wani was stayed by the High Court. The SAC had earlier quashed proceedings against former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tara Chand and former Congress minister and MLA Ghulam Mohammad Saroori. Former Congress ministers against whom cases are pending with the SAC are Gulchain Singh Charak, Mangat Ram Sharma and Suman Bhagat. In the case of Bhagat the SAC had initiated regular inquiry while in the case of Gulchain Singh Charak, the High Court had summoned the record. In the cases of Mangat Ram Sharma, the inquiries were stayed by the High Court. It was also admitted on the floor of the House on October 9, 2012 that at least 15 cases of corruption or misuse of official position have been registered against state politicians including four sitting ministers before the SAC. "What Rahul needs to do is to set his own house in order before raising fingers at others," said a PDP leader. |
