| Delhi Police cop among three injured after assault in Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu Aug 28: A Delhi police cop among three more persons sustained severe injuries when four unidentified persons attacked them with sharp edged weapons, besides torching of the vehicle they were travelling in here today at Digiana area under jurisdiction of Police Station Gandhinagar.
As per police sources, the incident took place when the police party was on its way to Delhi from Poonch with the boy and a girl who eloped from their respective residences to tie up with nuptial ties. Police sources said that the parents of the eloping duo lodged missing complaints with concerned police in New Delhi and accordingly the concerned police lodged missing reports in this connection.
Taking cognizance the Delhi police launched a massive hunt and following input from reliable sources about the presence of missing duo at Poonch and the Delhi police dispatched a team to Poonch in this regard.
"Police team from Delhi alongwith parents of missing duo reached at Poonch to arrest them, sources said. As per reports, the vehicle in which police was carrying the girl namely Ria and the boy Gagandeep Singh both residents of Delhi from Poonch was attacked by a group of unidentified persons at Digiana here today. The assailants attacked the police party with sharp edged weapons and fled from the spot leaving them in a pool of blood alongwith the girl and boy. "One of the three inured from Delhi police personnel who happens to be the uncle of the girl has been identified namely as Lokesh Kumar, sources said. Meanwhile the matter has been reported to the Digiana Police following which an FIR was registered and a massive manhunt was launched to nab the absconding accused. |
