Pandits, Molvis’ may be called to ward off 'evil' spirit at Hari Palace Srinagar | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 30: The government is contemplating religious ceremonies at the Hari Niwas Palace, Gupkar road Srinagar, to ward off the 'inauspicious' tag attached to it which is keeping off the investors. According to the sources, the government is contemplating to perform religious ceremonies-both according to the Hindu and Muslim religions, to 'remove evil spirits' and also to make it an 'auspicious' place for holding ceremonies. The Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed had decided to outsource the palace of the erstwhile ruler Hari Singh for high end functions including marriages. Sources said the government had decided to invite tenders at the cost of Rs six crores, agreement for six-year, but till now only two bids have come while it makes mandatory to have atleast three bids to open the tender. Source said going by the response the Government may decide to re-invite the tenders but before that religious ceremonies may be performed. The pandits of Hari Singh had told him not to build the Palace at the site of Gupkar as if was considered inauspicious, but he ignored the advice and after its completion the situation changed in the Kashmir and his rule ended. During the peak of terrorism in the valley the security forces interrogated many terrorists there and when GN Azad as Chief Minister, shifted there, he had to resign after some time because of the Amarnath land row. The then CM Omar Abdullah decided not to shift there and so did the CM Mufti Sayeed. But, it's a multi-million property and government doesn't want to keep it idle and it is for this reason its contemplating to do anything which can help in bring in investment in it. |
