Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 30 : The fresher's group of Natrang presented a zestful performance of legendry Hindi playwright Mohan Rakesh's famous play 'Bahut Bada Sawaal' in Natrang's Sunday Theatre Series at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu. The play was ably designed and directed by Neeraj Kant and Rahul Singh and was performed with equal ability by the new theatre enthusiasts of Natrang. The play is a comic satire of non-decision making by constitutional/institutional bodies in our nation. It opens with a meeting session organized by local body to discuss their grievances and propose their demands to the concerned authorities. But, the group discusses everything under the sky ranging from hobbies, sharing cheap jokes, relationship except the agenda of the meeting and the real issues never see the light of a critical discussion session.
The hold of the playwright over the dramatic situations and identifying 'Drama', in real live was apparently visible and the same was translated in action by the actors very effectively. Though the play was written long ago, but the situation still holds true for current scenario.
The gravity of situation has been emoted in a funny way through daily life characters played by the performers. The play is engrossed with subtle humor which shows how the formula of majority has been mocked in the democracy, where every logic is vain as it stands alone opposing the majority. The cast of the play included Karan Tandon as 'Mr. Sharma', Kamal Mishra as 'Mr. Kapoor', Deepak Mulsoo as 'Ram Bharose', Vishal Sharma as 'Shyam Bharose', Sudesh Parihar as 'Deen Dayal', Aishwarya Sathe as 'Manorma', Juhi Singh as 'Santosh', Pallavi Mathur as 'Gurpreet', Rishab Sharma as 'Prem Parkash', Hitanshu Jhinsi as 'Mohan', Kuldeep Angral as 'Satpal' and Shivam Singh as 'Ramesh'. The lights were operated by Rohit Sharma. Mahikshit Singh presented the show before the audience and the show was coordinated by Mohd.Yaseen.
