Srinagar, Oct 8: Government today said it would frame a new policy to regularize the services of about 61,000 contractual and daily wage workers in the state. "Give me some time...two three months, we will frame a policy to address this issue," State Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu said here. Drabu was speaking to a group of employees who are on a protest in Pratap Park here in support of their demand for regularisation of their services. "This is a human issue. So many families are affected by this. I want to tell you that the government is sensitive and serious over the issue and we will soon frame a policy," the Minister said. According to official figures, there are 60,682 such employees working in different departments of the state. |
