HC directive in Kathua distt teachers' selection list | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 8: In a petition filed by a bunch of candidates against the selection of teachers in district Kathua, high court judge Janak Raj Kotwal today issued notice. He directed the deputy AG to keep the record available pertaining to the merit position in written as well as viva voce of the candidates for the post of teachers in Kathua district. During the course of the arguments, petitioners' counsel submitted that they were declared qualified in the written test held on Sep 14, 2013. However, their score and merit position in the written test was not disclosed to them. They were called for interview conducted by the board. Petitioners were surprised not to find their names in the select list which was published in the news paper on September 7, 2015 and was made available on internet on Sep 4, 2015. Further surprise and shock given to the petitioners was that candidates having no B.Ed., M.Ed. and not even post-graduation, were shown selected. Even some candidates having mere 10+2 as educational qualification were shown selected. The higher qualification and degrees of the petitioners stood ignored. The select list does not reflect the points separately given to them in written test and viva voce. The select list is thus not transparent. The petitioners have been deliberately pushed back to give a march over them to the private respondents who were lesser in merit and qualification as compared to that of the petitioners. Justice Kotwal, after hearing counsel for the petitioners in length, directed that subject to objections, selection to the post of teachers vis-a-vis Kathua district shall remain subject to further orders.
