Complaints against political class in JK to be looked into: SAC | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 8: The newly-reconstituted State Accountability Commission (SAC) will soon look into the complaints against the political class in Jammu and Kashmir, its chairperson Justice (retd) B A Khan today said. He took stock of the pending complaints of Jammu wing of SAC during his first visit after taking over head of the commission and said earnest efforts are being made to revive the panel and put it back on track. Justice Khan, a former Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, was accompanied by SAC member Justice (retd) J P Singh during his visit to the commission here. Replying to a question about present affairs of the commission, he said, "It was lying in defunct condition and earnest efforts are being made to review and put it back on track." Justice Khan, who was appointed as chairperson of SAC along with Singh and Justice (retd) B A Kirmani by Governor N N Vohra on September 23, said the commission will enquire into the complaints against the political class in the state. He further said that whatever little had been done by the commission so far, has been grounded by the high court stay order of the indifferent attitude of the previous governments. The commission was defunct in view of the failure of the state government to appoint the chairperson and the members for last several years. |
