Govt has no documents pertaining to 390 MW Dool-Hasti project | NHPC continues to dodge state Govt | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 8: The National Hydro Electric Power Corporation executing various power projects in the state of Jammu and Kashmir is continuously dodging the government of Jammu and Kashmir by not providing the details with regard to the agreement signed between the NHPC and the state government at the time of execution of 390 MW Dool-Hasti Power project in Kishtwar. It has also come to the fore that the state government that is claiming to be pursuing the case with the union government for transferring of power projects to the state including Dool Hasti power project too have no documents of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the executing agency NHPC and the state government. As per the details available with "Early Times", in reply to CQ No. 208 of PDP MLC Firdous Tak seeking copies of MoU signed between NHPC and State Government, besides demanding details of various welfare activities carried out by the NHPC in catchment area around the Dam site as well as corporation contribution towards local area development under Corporate Social Responsibility, besides other allied information. Under Secretary Power Development Department on behalf of the Minister incharge power stated that the information is being collected. As and when the same is received the member will be informed accordingly. The reply forced MLC to approach the Chairman of the Legislative Council with a written complaint against NHPC for not providing the information as was sought by the member. "If we started receiving similar answer then there were other forums like RTI as well that we can apply for---- but the status of the House is above all and no one should either dodge or hoodwink it" informed Tak to Chairman Legislative Council. |
