Operation called off as militant gave slip in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 8: As the militants gave slip, security forces called off the search operation in south Kashmir district of Shopian, where a brief encounter took place today. Official sources said security forces were withdrawn after there was no militant. They said on a tip-off troops of Rashitriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation in a village in Shopian district of south Kashmir. However, when the security forces were sealing the particular area in the village, militants attacked them with automatic weapons. Troops also retaliated ensuing a fierce encounter. Additional security forces were rushed to the village but the militants had managed to escape. Later security forces conducted searches and later called off the operation. |
