Bhandari seeks PCC chief's intervention in settling long standing problems | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 29: A delegation of Congress activists from Kishtwar led by senior Party leader Shamsher Singh Bhandari called on party State president G A Mir here and sought his immediate intervention in settling the long pending demands of the people of the hilly belt. Bhandari while expressing concern over the delaying tactics of the Government in widening the Batote-Kishtwar Highway and other roads said that the Highway which is in dilapidated condition has become a death trap as many accidents take place on it every year. He said despite being the long pending demand of the people of the twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar no steps have been taken for construction of alternative Highway from Batote to Kishtwar. Besides, the condition of other roads in the district is also bad and many areas even san the road link in this modern time. Bhandari appealed the PCC chief to take up these genuine issues with the Government as well as in State Legislature through the Party legislators. Bhandari said the Chenab Valley has a huge potential of power generation but no steps were taken by the present government to expedite the work on those power projects which were in pipeline during Congress -NC rule. He said no headway has been made on Bursar and Pacal Dool projects while the work on Ratle project has been abandoned and the Government has failed to restore the same. |
