No water supply scheme functional in area | People rue PHE Sub Div Mendhar | |  MS Nazki

Poonch, Jan 29: People of several villages in Mendhar town have to travel a long distance to fetch drinking water as there is not any water supply scheme functional in the area sources said here today. The populace of many villages falling in Mendhar namely, Balakote, Moral Kalan, Sanjoit, Balnoi, Sagra and several others have to explore miles to fetch water supply scheme functional due to the pathetic approach of the Public Health Engineering Department Sub Division Mendhar, sources said, adding in some of the villages there has not been even dug wells. Sources said the Mendhar town is also receiving contaminated water from PHE supply as the water pipes have developed leakages at many spots and no repairing has been taken place as men at helm were to be in deep slumber. Even water supply to Poonch town was also contaminated as supply lines too have developed cracks and leakages. In rainy season all muddy water goes through these pipes which creates health hazard in the area but PHE Sub Division is unmoved, the sources further added. Locals of the area alleged that PHE Sub Division Mendhar is not active on its duty. There is no filtration plants and water testing laboratory was not also functional. The people of the area were hapless to drink dirty water. The entire Poonch district was facing water crisis. The proper maintenance of reservoirs is not being done alleged the people. They said a symbol of crescent and star has been welded on the main gate of the PHE Sub Division Mendhar which should be removed at an earliest the locals further maintained. |
