'No more Central financial package for JK' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 29: The Central Government is unlikely to announce any more financial package for Jammu and Kashmir, one of the demands reportedly put forth by the PDP for the Government formation. According to the sources, the BJP Government has communicated to the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti that while it will continue to assist the J&K financially liberally but it will not be in a position to announce any more financial package. "How can we announce any further package when the PM has already announced Rs 80,000 crores package last year. It covers almost all the aspects of the development. Even for the flood affected we have given enough as per our estimate. Nothing new can be announced though we will be accommodative but this demand can't be accepted and it should be clear to the PDP," said a senior official. The PDP which has created a sort of political stalemate wants more announcements from the Centre before re-starting the alliance. The PDP president has communicated the reservations of the party to high officials of the Government and also to the BJP senior leadership. "Mehbooba Mufti is unlikely to accept the chair of the CM if something tangible is not given to her which she can project as sort of new conditions before the people in the Kashmir. But the Central Government also has its own compulsions so a via media has to be found out to end the stalemate," said the official. The BJP high command has sources said asked its State unit and its legislators to remain tight lipped and not air their view more so in any manner show their desperation for the Government formation. The party high command has told them that any decision will be taken by it at the New Delhi. |
