Pending Salaries case: Comtech casual employees go to pen down stir | | | Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Mar 25: Demanding release of their pending wages, the contractual employees engaged by Comtech Info Solutions Pvt Ltd to maintain data base of ration cards holders under Consumer Affair and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Department today held a protest demonstration in front of district administration, here today. Led by Zaheer Abbas, the protesting employees said that they were working for more than last three months and have registered more than seventy thousand (70,000) ration card holders under Consumer Affair and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Department. "The protestors observed a pen down strike which however came to end after media persons intervened, sources said. While talking to media persons, contractual employees' leader Mr Abaas said, "To meet the deadline we (casual workers) are working round the clock but the concern department yet has not released a single penny to them against their work resulting financial crunch." He further alleged when we raised the issue to concerned officials, the Assistant Director (AD) Food & Supply Ramban has asked us no to disclose the problems with the media and also have threatened of ill consequences. He and other speakers alleged that AD Food &Supply Ramban even had threatened about their services will be terminated if they don't continue with their job and new operators shall be appointed to replace them. Local Representative Comtech Info Solutions Pvt Ltd, Abdul Hamid said that he already had taken-up the matter to higher authorities to get requisite funds released. "It is only after release of funds from the concerned department we (the company) will release wages to its employees, he said. |
