Jan stresses on need for smooth traffic management | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Mar 25: Pressing for an immediate need for smooth traffic management in Poonch town, Provincial President of Youth National Conference Ajaz Jan today said that due to delay in construction of damaged Sher e Kashmir, people of Poonch are bearing the burnt while National Conference has also called for a probe into delay in disbursement of flood loss compensation despite tall claims. While addressing a meeting of National Conference leaders, YNC Provincial President Ajaz Jan said that since last few weeks, the period since temporary road along SK bridge is closed due to rains, people are facing immense hardships due to long traffic jams which hit roads around the clock. "A traffic jam of over four hours was witnessed by people on Friday also and these jams are a common scene on Poonch roads " Jan said. He also alleged that due to careless approach of government authorities and PDP BJP government, the work on damaged Sher e Kashmir bridge is moving on snail’s pace despite the fact that funds for the work were released by than Chief Minister Omar Abdullah soon after the floods but since floods in October 2014, government agencies and government has failed to repair this ever important bridge of Poonch town. Meanwhile National Conference has also demanded an inquiry into the hollow claims of government authorities for providing compensation to flood affected families. "Authorities are claiming that compensation has been transferred to the accounts of flood affected people but on ground, affected people are yet to receive the money and inquiry should be conducted into the delay in transfer of compensation amount " NC leaders said while addressing the meeting. They also took a dig at Peoples Democratic Party for delaying government formation unnecessarily and befooling people on the name of CBMs. |
