Jammu, Mar 25: The special squad anti vehicle theft and recovery team (AVTAR) team under operation Chetak constituted by Dr Sunil Gupta, SSP Jammu today apprehended a bootlegger alongwith 54 pouches of illicit liquor during a naka raised at Laxmi Palace, Anand Nagar, Bohri, Jammu., "The accused has been identified as Daljit Singh @ Goga S/O Harnam Singh R/o Seri Rakwalan, Jammu," police said according to police spokesperson, AVTAR team laid a special naka near Laxmi Palace, Anand Nagar, Bohri, Jammu and it signaled one motorcycle bearing regd No: JK 02 BD-7562 to halt but the rider of the bike tried to escape the naka.'
However the police team gave a hot chase and was intercepted successfully by the Police party, police said adding, "during questioning disclosed his name as Daljit Singh @ Goga and on checking Police Party recovered 54 Pouches of Excise liquor each of 180 ml from his possession."
Police said that the accused was arrested on the spot and a case under FIR NO. 93/16 u/s 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Domana while further investigation of the case are on. |
